The Ikara Ikat Bone Inlay Cabinet translates the distinctive visual language of traditional Ikat textiles into contemporary furniture. Its midnight-blue and ivory palette emphasises the characteristic stepped contours, elongated diamond motifs and rhythmic repetitions associated with resist-dyed woven patterns.
The intricate composition is developed using individually cut bone inlay pieces, arranged to recreate the pixelated edges and angular transitions of Ikat weaving. Alternating bands of interlocking diamonds, zigzag formations and fragmented linear elements establish a continuous pattern across both cabinet doors.
A full-width upper drawer introduces a complementary horizontal arrangement of diamond motifs, while repeating ivory lozenge borders define the cabinet's rectangular silhouette. Circular knobs provide a subtle contrast to the densely patterned surfaces.
The cabinet rests on a slender brass-finished metal base, introducing architectural lightness to its proportions. Individually made by skilled artisans, the piece combines traditional inlay techniques with textile-inspired pattern construction, offering distinctive storage for contemporary interiors.
